Viper Mask

Q&A

Do I really need to wear a mask or respirator while spray painting?

Yes, absolutely. Spray paints release fine particles and fumes which are harmful if inhaled. A properly fitted mask or respirator designed for paint fumes helps filtering out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other chemicals, protecting your lungs and respiratory tract. Make sure to always wear a proper mask when spraying, and make sure they fit snugly for the best protection.

How long can I use the filters of my mask? Do I need to replace them after a certain amount of time?

The lifespan of your Viper masks filters depend on many factors such as exposure levels, environmental conditions and so on.

We highly recommend replacing the filter sets of your Viper mask at least every 30 days (if used intermittently) or sooner as a general guideline.

Always store unused filters in a clean, airtight container and in a dry environment to preserve their effectiveness. When in doubt, it’s safer to replace your filter too early rather than risk extended use of an over-saturated one.

What other protective gear should I wear when using spray paints?

In addition to a mask, you should wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from paint mist and splatters. Gloves (nitrile or latex) help shield your hands from chemicals, and long-sleeved clothing or a paint suit keeps the paint off your skin. It’s also recommended to cover or tie back your hair to prevent it from absorbing paint particles.

Which mask is safer? The AirFed 2020 Full Face or the Viper Half Face Mask?

Basically both of the two masks provide you with a sufficient level of protection. However, Anest Iwata is advocating taking health related risks seriously and therfore highly recommends using the AirFed 2020 Mask.

Thanks to its design, the AirFed 2020 not only supplies you with fresh and filtered air from the outside of the cabin, it furthermore is not prone to any sort of air leakage. This especially comes into play when the spray painter wears a beard. Additionally and thanks to its full coverage it prevents adsorption of harmful substances through the mucous membranes which – simply put – makes it the safer mask.

We believe everyone on this planet should have a long and enjoyable life, therefore we highly recommend the AirFed 2020 Full Face Mask.
